(Gawkwire) – Dyn, the world leader in Internet Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), announced Monday that it has acquired TZO, a longtime leader in Managed DNS services.
This is the fifth acquisition made by Dyn in the past three years. In 2010, Dyn purchased EveryDNS and EditDNS in separate transactions. In 2011, they made their biggest acquisition with the purchase of SendLabs, which allowed Dyn to begin offering Enterprise Email Delivery. Last week, Dyn acquired the talent of the SEO/SEM and ecommerce development arm of Incutio LTD.
As with the EveryDNS and EditDNS purchases, the TZO acquisition will bolster Dyn’s place as the world leader in Managed DNS.
Like Dyn, TZO focuses on both self-service consumer and enterprise customers, the only other IaaS company with the same dual focus. The Pepperell, Massachusetts, based company provides proprietary DNS software and diverse vendors throughout DNS and email networks, in addition to strong dynamic DNS partnerships and a history of innovation.
For Dyn’s enterprise customers, the acquisition enables them to easily move to multi-vendor strategies across all area of their infrastructure as Dyn will now offer premium redundancy. Affordable and intuitive enterprise disaster recovery solutions are another benefit of the deal as Dyn will get two additional name servers to add to its current four, thereby ensuring the best service for its current and future customers.
“We saw a lot of similarities between TZO today and where Dyn was back in 2008,” said Kyle York, Dyn Chief Revenue Officer. “They have a similar approach to customers and, like us, they provide both DNS and Email Delivery, albeit their email is on a smaller scale. TZO is on the cusp of great scaling and we think being part of Dyn will enable that to happen.”
“We are excited to join forces with Dyn and take Infrastructure as a Service to a new level,” said Gary Morton, former CEO of TZO. “Dyn shares our core values and a similar culture to TZO. I honestly believe this is a win-win for everyone, especially current and future customers.”
The acquisition is a true consolidation of companies, technology and workforce. All of TZO’s full-time employees, including Morton, have been offered the option to transition to Dyn’s corporate headquarters in Manchester, N.H., a mere 30 minutes from their previous headquarters. This new talent, a committed and focused team on both DNS and outbound email, will be a major addition for Dyn.
Incorporated in 2001, Dyn is the worldwide Internet Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) leader, powering Managed DNS and Email Delivery for more than four million enterprise, small business and personal users. With nearly 20 data centers around the world and industry-leading uptime for over 10 years, Dyn’s commitment to customer relationships and engineering excellence shines every day. Uptime is the Bottom Line.
