WorkLight Appoints Kurt Daniel (formerly at Parallels) as Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, NY (Gawkwire.com)  WorkLight, the leader in secure Web 2.0 widgets for business, announced today that Kurt Daniel, formerly with Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and most recently Parallels, has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer. A growth-oriented industry veteran, Mr. Daniel will manage all business operations for WorkLight in North America including sales, business development, marketing and operations.

“I am pleased to welcome Kurt to the WorkLight executive team, as we continue to expand our operations worldwide,” said Shahar Kaminitz, CEO of WorkLight. “In his newly created role, Kurt will be instrumental in defining and driving our business strategy and operations. I have great confidence in Kurt as a seasoned business executive, creative thinker and strong leader.”

Mr. Daniel joins WorkLight from Parallels, a fast-growing virtualization and automation software company, where he was a Senior Vice President in charge of the Online Business Unit as well as worldwide marketing, business development and corporate development. Over several years, he played a critical role in leading the company to 1.5 million customers and clear market leadership positions in server control panels, desktop virtualization and operating system containers.

Previously, Mr. Daniel spent several years at Microsoft, the world’s largest software company. There he led strategy, product management and business management teams for the highly profitable SQL Server Business Unit as it quickly crossed the $1 billion milestone.

“I am excited to join WorkLight at this stage in the company’s evolution and to build from its strong product foundation and customer momentum,” said Mr. Daniel. “WorkLight has a significant opportunity in Web 2.0-based lightweight applications for web, desktop and mobile, and I look forward to working with Shahar and the rest of the team to accelerate our market position.”
