Gawkwire: Web Hosting and Internet News Resource: Domain Prices Rising July 1, 2010 Domain Prices Rising July 1, 2010 ================================================================================ Derek Morris on 01 June, 2010 11:43:00 (Gawkwire.com) - Domain name registry, Verisign had recently announced to its registrars (the companies that sell domains) that domain wholesale prices of .com and .net domains will be increasing as of July 1, 2010. All .com domains will raise by 7% and .net domains by 10%. The price increase should cause registrars to raise their prices by a similar percentage. Although the increase doesn't seem that bad, Verisign now has the right to continue to raise domain prices by 7% a year. With roughly 65 million .com domain names registered worldwide, Verisign just added $27 million dollars per year to their bottom line.
