(Gawkwire.com) RegistryPro today announced plans for the highly anticipated release of one- two- and three-character .PRO domain names over the course of the coming weeks and months.
“Many well-qualified and committed professional organizations, companies and individuals will soon have the privilege of owning some of the most prime real estate on the Internet, “said Lucas Roh, CEO of RegistryPro. “We’re excited to offer these names to an eager public.”
In June 2009, RegistryPro received approval from the board of directors of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to release these unique and highly recognizable names, which have been reserved since the registry was launched in 2004.
According to the release schedule posted on RegistryPro’s corporate Web site, www.registry.pro/123, the first phase of the release and allocation process is Request for Proposals (RFP), which will begin on February 10th when .PRO begins accepting and evaluating RFPs for all one- two- and three-character .PRO names.
Interested parties have the opportunity to distinguish themselves as candidates by submitting detailed FPs about their qualifications and how they intend to use and promote a name if awarded. The primary objective of the RFP process is to develop long-term relationships with and secure firm commitments from individuals, businesses and professional organizations that evidence an honest, well mapped out understanding of this opportunity as well as their place in the .PRO space.
According to the release schedule, names not awarded through RFP will also be made available through two additional allocation methods: auction and first come, first served general availability.
“With our three-step process, prospective registrants will have several ways to acquire these ultra-premium names,” said Roh. “With names like i.pro, ny.pro and 777.pro coming on the market in such a short period of time, we expect to see a flood of interest in .PRO in Q1 of 2010.”
