2010 Golf Tournament at TPC San Antonio to Raise Funds for IT Education

Oakbrook Terrace, IL (Gawkwire.com) Celebrity Golf Pro and CBS Television Analyst Ian Baker-Finch will return for the CompTIA Educational Foundation's 2010 Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic. The event will run August 9, 2010, at the TPC San Antonio golf course, during CompTIA's annual Breakaway conference.

Baker-Finch participated in the 2009 Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic in Las Vegas, giving a golf clinic to attendees and discussing humorous highlights of his career with participants.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Foundation's Creating Futures program which provides training and certification opportunities to populations who have historically been under-represented in the information technology (IT) workforce, including U.S. veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, minorities, at-risk youth and dislocated workers. Creating Futures works with employers to identify their hiring needs, then tailors its training to help individuals obtain the skills employers require.

Baker-Finch began his career on the Australian tour, turning pro in 1979 and winning his first professional tournament at the 1983 New Zealand Open. His other golf victories include the 1985 Scandinavian Enterprise Open, the 1989 Southwestern Bell Colonial and the 1991 British Open. In 2003, 2005 and 2007 Baker-Finch served as Gary Player's captain's assistant for the International team in the Presidents Cup. In January 2008, he joined the Gary Player Group as an international brand ambassador and golf course designer. He plans to compete on the Champions Tour after he turns 50 next year.

Sponsorships for the Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic are available. Premier sponsors will have the opportunity to match shots, have a private instructional clinic and get foursome photos with Baker-Finch. The event allows IT leaders to have hours of one-on-one time with their key partners. Breakaway attendees also can buy foursomes to play in the golf tournament.
