(Gawkwire.com) – From 7th to 9th April 2011, Ruby programmers and web developers from across the UK will be brought together in Edinburgh by the annual Scottish Ruby Conference, which takes place at the Royal College of Physicians in the Scottish capital.Scottish Ruby Conference 2011, a rebranded incarnation of the Scotland on Rails conference, is being run by the same team which oversaw the events in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The conference features a wide variety of notable and prominent speakers in the Ruby programming world. This year’s sell out event differs from previous years, as on Thursday 7th April, a Tutorial Day will take place, where eminent developers Chad Fowler and Keavy McMinn will cover the fundamental building blocks of Ruby.A free alternative to the Tutorial Day on Thursday 7th April 2011 is The Ruby Festival. The Festival will serve as an unconference event, providing a hacking space to encourage users to share their knowledge and experience in the Ruby programming language. The Ruby Festival is open to those not attending Thursday’s Tutorial Day or the conference itself on Friday and Saturday. Festival and Tutorial Day attendees are invited to donate to the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland. Scottish Ruby Conference has raised over £15,000 for terminally ill children in previous years.York based hosting company Bytemark are sponsoring the event and are keen to reach out to their target market of cutting-edge developers this way. Matthew Bloch, Managing Director of Bytemark Hosting, says "Bytemark have built their business on Ruby since 2002 so we really should have sponsored a Ruby conference sooner!  Our new hosting platform is built on Ruby, and we’re glad that our favourite language is supported by a vibrant and clever community.  As ever we’re very excited to see what new ideas will come of these three days in Edinburgh."The Scottish Ruby Conference will be held at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, Scotland between Thursday 7th April – Saturday 9th April 2011
