GMX Free Webmail Service Integrates Facebook Connect

PHILADEPHIA, PA (Gawkwire.com)  GMX, the free e-mail service for more than 11 million active users, is delighted to integrate Facebook Connect in its webmail interface (www.gmx.com).  GMX will pair a mainstream communication service with one of the Web’s most popular social utilities and enable Facebook users to log into their GMX email with their Facebook login credentials.

Facebook Connect lets users log into their existing GMX mailboxes using their Facebook username and password and also register a new GMX.com e-mail address. People do not need to create, and likewise memorize, a new ID.  Once logged into GMX, any e-mail received from a Facebook friend is personalized with the person’s profile picture and relates their latest status in the GMX Inbox.

Also included in GMX is the Facebook News Feed. Now, GMX users will have the updates fed gives directly into their GMX interface.  In addition, e-mail attachments can be directly uploaded from GMX to a user’s Facebook profile. This means GMX users can quickly and easily share links or content sent to them in e-mail with their Facebook friends.

Two predominant elements of a Web-savvy society unite
“E-Mail and connecting with friends through the social web are two of the most frequently used tools online.  Based on feedback from our GMX users, we know that there is a longing to link these two separate ‘online worlds’. Facebook Connect lets us bring them one step closer to finally closing this gap,” says Eva Heil, Managing Director, GMX.

Heil sees a positive change on the horizon for how people and online applications may interact in the future. “I think combining efforts will be the direction many Web services take in the near future,” she said.

Javier Olivan, International Manager at Facebook, added, “The way GMX has integrated Facebook Connect in its webmail service perfectly illustrates how two services can enrich the experiences for their users by bringing together their everyday e-mail communications and the social web.“

With over 11 million active users, GMX offers a reliable, secure e-mail service combined with great looks, great performance and state-of-the-art functionality. Free e-mail has grown up, find it at GMX. The free e-mail service can be seen at www.gmx.com
