Web Content Filtering Company Bloxx Adds Bing to SafeSearch List

(Gawkwire.com) Bloxx, the enterprise Web filtering vendor, today announced that Microsoft’s new search engine, Bing, has been added to its SafeSearch list.  Bloxx customers have the option to enforce the SafeSearch facility on search engines which automatically overrides users attempts to change search engine settings. With this option in force, IT Managers can fully protect their users’ from harmful and inappropriate search engine results when using Bing’s search facilities.

A controversial new feature available to users of Bing is its video search facility which lets users view online videos in preview mode. Without actually accessing the website hosting the video, users can potentially preview pornographic or other offensive videos by hovering the cursor over a thumbnail. This bypasses corporate and parental web control filters.

Bloxx’s SafeSearch facility has been universally expanded to incorporate Bing and assure continued safe searching for users. Unlike other web filtering solutions, customers do not have to impose a complete ban of Bing in order to stop users viewing inappropriate video search results. For customers that use Bloxx’s SafeSearch enforcement, it will now block users from previewing, accessing and viewing offensive content presented to them by Bing’s video search facility, ensuring the highest protection for users.

Bing was launched by Microsoft at the beginning of June and is looking to tip Google off the search engine top-spot.  It is reported that in the first two weeks of launch Bing has already bypassed Yahoo to become the second most used search engine in the world.

The availability of this update is currently being rolled out to all Bloxx customers.
