Oficially. Nobody invented the Internet. The US started to create networks but they did not invented the networks. Allot of people invented the Internet, including Japan, Europe, etc. Someone invented the TCP protocol, other the WWW protocol, other contributed to the mass deployment of server with a free OS (linux), with Windows this would had never happen. Yes, the US was the one that contributed the most, but Internet was something that was going to happen eventually everywhere, when people start to connect each others. If it was with computers it would had happen with cell phones, or tv.
