(Gawkwire) – Wakanday is a conference dedicated to promoting JavaScript as the language of choice for enterprise Web applications. Wakanday 2011 will take place on October 15, 2011 at the Omni Parker House Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. The conference organized by 4D – makers of the open-source JavaScript platform Wakanda – is open to all interested in JavaScript as the singular language for business Web application development.

“Wakanday is about showing that JavaScript is more than just for client development,” said Luc Hollande, CEO of the 4D group. “We’re making a serious attempt to establish JavaScript as the language for the development of professional business Web applications, and so anyone from across the spectrum who’s already using or interested in using JavaScript, SSJS, NoSQL, open source and application development should attend.”

The conference will feature insightful keynote sessions, as well as more intimate, specialized breakout sessions from experts of varied backgrounds. It also offers the opportunity to connect with developers and technology enthusiasts from around the world, as attendees are expected to be not only from North America, but Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia.

Confirmed speakers

Wakanday has already confirmed some impressive leaders in the JavaScript and application development communities. Al Hilwa, program director for IDC, will deliver the analyst perspective on today’s state of development technologies – namely the future of JavaScript and the challenges it presents in the enterprise – and Douglas Crockford, JavaScript architect at Yahoo and a prolific proponent of the language, will be on hand to speak as well. Wakanda lead developer Laurent Ribardière will present the advantages of an all-JavaScript solution, while Joe McCann, principal architect at subPrint Interactive, will offer his views on open source, Web standards and more. Further speakers are being confirmed.

The conference is still accepting speaker proposals from individuals from various backgrounds, most notably founders or leading experts of JavaScript projects and developers from organizations who are using JavaScript for mission-critical applications. Interested parties should submit an application at http://wakanday.org/speakerproposal

A broad audience

The event is intended to be of value to anyone and everyone with an interest in JavaScript as a successful application development language, no matter their chosen platform or development environment. Wakanday is for all JavaScript professionals, whether they already use or are considering using open source projects such as Node.js, MongoDB, jQuery, Wakanda, etc.
