(Gawkwire.com) – Applied Innovations today launched its November Giving Innovations corporate responsibility
campaign, focusing on Boca Helping Hands, a Boca Raton-based organization that provides food,
job mentoring and family resources to those in need. This is the second monthly installment of
Giving Innovations, a dedicated year-round effort designed to raise awareness and donate funds
for charitable causes each month.
AppliedI will donate 10% of all new sales made during November to the organization, as well as
organizing an employee volunteering field trip to Boca Helping Hands (BHH) to assist in the
Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen or Computer Lab. “We recently took an active position as a company,
in both local and national non-profit programs that are doing important charitable work,”
stated Jess Coburn, founder and CEO of Applied Innovations, Corp. “Giving Innovations is a
framework we’ve developed that will allow us to showcase a different program each month with a
promotional campaign designed to increase awareness, raise money and provide physical assistance
for worthy causes.”
“We wanted to alternate between national high profile programs and smaller community organizations
that would allow us as a company and as individuals to get more personally involved,” said Lisa
Perry, sales consultant at Applied Innovations. “We wanted to do something a little bit different.
Something more than just sending volunteers to a soup kitchen. One of the things that intrigued
us about Boca Helping Hands was the opportunity to offer our technical expertise to their Computer
Formed in 1998, BHH’s mission is to provide compassionate service through food and assistance
programs to individuals, families and children to instill dignity and break the cycle of dependence.
BHH volunteers serve hot meals five days a week to families and individuals including the working
poor, single parents, children, the elderly and homeless. They also supply bags of groceries to
help people meet their basic food needs. In 2009, BHH served 24,454 meals, delivered another 6,797
meals, and provided over 7,000 grocery bags. The BHH Job Mentoring program features experienced
Human Resources professionals who assist individuals in finding employment by working on interview
skills and job hunting tactics. And the BHH Resource Center helps hundreds of clients each year
with financial assistance and counseling.
“Boca Helping Hands is making a difference right in our back yard,” continued Perry. “It’s exciting
to find a local, grass roots program like BHH for Giving Innovations to sponsor. And a number of our
team members are really looking forward to getting involved.” October launched AppliedI’s Giving
Innovations program, with a campaign to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating 10%
of all new sales made during the month to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Giving Innovations will
continue in December with a campaign for Toys for Tots, a national program that’s a favorite of
Coburn’s, particularly since starting his own family three years ago.
“It’s just amazing to see how much joy a child gets out of even the simplest toy,” said Coburn.
“Toys for Tots is a great program and we’ve participated in the past, but this year we’re making
A campaign calendar for Giving Innovations 2011 will be announced in January. Applied Innovations
will be soliciting feedback from customers in December to identify both local and national charities
