Fusepoint Managed Services Renews Commitment to Tier 1 PCI, DSS Compliance

Toronto, Ontario (Gawkwire.com) Fusepoint Managed Services, a national provider of outsourced IT and infrastructure services, today announced it has, for the third consecutive year, been approved by VISA as compliant with the highest level of Payment Card Industry, Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Fusepoint originally achieved compliance in 2007 to meet the needs of mid-to-large sized enterprise clients who process credit cards and were required to be PCI DSS compliant themselves.

PCI DSS is a data protection standard created by the payment card industry that aims to secure credit cardholder information wherever it resides. PCI DSS applies to organizations that store, process or transmit cardholder information, and outlines steps that merchants and service providers must take to achieve compliance. Non-compliance can be costly, as companies that do not meet PCI's 12 requirements run the risk of not being able to conduct business with leading credit card companies including Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

"Outsourcing the components of your IT infrastructure that process, store or touch credit cards in any way, to a provider that is already compliant, simply makes good business sense from a bottom line perspective," said George Kerns, President and CEO of Fusepoint Managed Services. "Clients can not only leverage the extensive investments we have made in our people, processes and technologies, they can also leverage Fusepoint's certifications which include CICA 5970, SAS70 Type II, as well as Tier 1 PCI DSS."

To help clients understand the demarcation points of who is responsible for what components in becoming compliant, the company has assembled an online tutorial webcast which can be viewed here: http://www.fusepoint.com/webinars/PCI/player.html

WTF? They have a PCI audit and put out a press release? They must really be hurting for something newsworthy.
