HostV Launches Private Servers for Developers

(Gawkwire.com) HostV announced it has introduced a new line of unmanaged high-performance, highly-flexible Virtual Private Servers. These new servers are targeted at developers and other advanced users who do not require end-user control panels or proactive management.

The new high-performance unmanaged plans offer tremendous flexibility at substantially reduced cost. Starting at just $29.99 per month, the new DEV-VPS plans enable users to select between a 32-bit and 64-bit platform and from a broad variety of operating system templates, including Debian, Centos 4, Centos 5, Fedora Core 9, Fedora 11, Fedora 12, Ubuntu 9.10 and Open Suse 11. The DEV-VPS plans include access to Virtuozzo 4 and Power Panel.

“It is important to be responsive to the needs of our customers and to the market as a whole. There is an increasing segment of hosting users seeking no-fills, bare-bones virtual servers that put all the focus on infrastructure and little focus on management, including end-user hosting control panels. We modeled these developer plans on that need,” said John Xie, president of Cirtex Corp., HostV parent company. “There’s a broad range of uses for these new plans, from administrators needing a virtual server to create a Openfire XMPP Jabber Server or Voice server, to a developer looking to for a testing environment.”

Fully-managed VPS Hosting with cPanel from HostV starts at $39.99/monthly for 50GB of disk space and 1000GB of top-tier data transfer. All accounts include full support for video hosting, free data backups, and HostV’s premium customer support.

Earlier this month, HostV introduced Ksplice Uptrack, allowing it to update Linux servers without rebooting. Linux kernel updates are automatically converted into rebootless update packages, and HostV can simply apply the update remotely without causing a disruption or significant performance hit on the server.
