SoftLayerâ„¢ Increases Network Connections

DALLAS, TX (Gawkwire.com) SoftLayer Technologies, the on-demand IT services provider, recently added new 10G circuits from Time Warner Cable to each of its data centers nationwide. This brings SoftLayer’s total connectivity to 270G of direct connectivity, with multiple transit and peering providers.

The new connections provide low latency and additional redundancy across SoftLayer’s backbone and further extend SoftLayer’s ability to provide massive scalability in rapid and sustainable bursts. This flexibility has proven essential for online media services providing video streams of live events to global audiences, as more and more viewers turn to coverage on the Internet rather than television. One recent event drew 45Gbps of egress bandwidth, leading to a total of more than 100Gbps sustained bandwidth across all SoftLayer facilities.

“Network reliability is the bedrock of all we offer and our customers’ first priority,” said Ric Moseley, SoftLayer Vice President of Engineering. “We are committed to continually enhancing network performance and increasing our redundancy to ensure we deliver industry-leading performance and uptime.”
