Selectel Unveils New Cloud Hosting Brand: Vscale

(www.gawkwire.com) – Selectel, one of the leading Russian IT hosting providers, has announced the launch of its cloud hosting platform Vscale. The service lets you create reliable, high-performance virtual servers and is aimed at the growing developer community. Selectel plans to promote Vscale as a standalone brand on the Russian and international market, with no ties to its parent company.

Vscale is a cloud hosting provider and was created with software, web, and mobile developers in mind. It’s been designed specifically to meet their needs: virtual infrastructures can be deployed in seconds and serve a variety of purposes–from testing code to launching finished projects.

Lev Leviev, founder and CEO of Selectel:

 “We have put all of our experience in creating cloud-based products and our understanding of this very specific audience into Vscale. A flexible and reliable virtual infrastructure at an affordable price, that’s what developers are interested in, and these are the qualities that we’ve brought together in our new hosting platform. We’re confident in the success of our project and see Vscale as an international brand.»

A team of programmers and engineers worked on the Vscale software and hardware environment for two years. The result of their efforts is a top-of-the-line cloud hosting platform. Vscale stands out for its:

  • quick server deployment – servers are created in 20 to 50 seconds;
  • modern hardware architecture built on Intel Xeon E5v3 processors, DDR4 RAM and server-grade SSDs;
  • user-friendly control panel; and
  • intuitive API to facilitate developers’ work.

For its virtualization system, Vscale uses KVM. This guarantees that the generated resources can work independently and enables the use of modified operating system kernels. For now, the only operating systems available on Vscale virtual servers are Ubuntu 14.04, Debian 8, and CentOS 7. Work is already underway to add other distributions and pre-configured images to this list.

Another advantage of Vscale is its manageable hourly payment system; clients can accurately plan their expenses based on the resources they used and scale their virtual infrastructure at a moment’s notice and in real-time. The most basic virtual server costs only 0.29 rubles per hour. For the launch, anyone who wants to can try Vscale absolutely for free. Simply sign up for the service and enter promo code SCALET200; 200 rubles will be added to your account.

Vscale has become the third brand in Selectel’s portfolio and will be promoted in the international developer community independent from its parent company. Its first online advertising campaign will be launched in both Russian and English in the near future.

Developers make up one of the most prospective sectors of the hosting market, claiming a turnover of hundreds of millions of dollars each year. According to the market research firm Evans Data Corporation, there were 19 million developers at the start of 2015, and that number is estimated to grow to 25 million by 2019. Experts suggest that the largest growth in the number of programmers during this period will be in China, India, and Russia.
